How To Clean Your Restaurant's Faux Finish Walls

Blog

Your restaurant's commercial faux finish should be well protected by a sealer, which serves as an easy-to-clean shield over the surface of the paint. However, restaurants can be lively places, with the walls getting stained by food, grease, and scuff marks. The key to preserving your commercial faux finish is cleaning it properly with the right cleaner. The following tips will help you protect your faux finish walls, so your restaurant dining room can continue to look its best for years to come.

Scuff Marks

Scuff marks need to be cleaned with something abrasive, but cleaners that are too abrasive can mar the finish. To clean scuff marks from your walls, mix together a paste of baking soda and water. Dip a damp sponge in the mixture, then use the sponge to gently rub the walls. Make little circles on the scuff marks with the sponge, then rinse the walls with a damp sponge. Dry the walls with a clean rag when you're done.

Grease

Grease and oil can stick to the walls, creating a sticky film that attracts dirt and grime. Removing grease from the walls on a regular basis is important. Spot treat your walls each night, and wipe down the entire walls on a monthly basis. To clean the walls, use a combination of equal parts vinegar and water. Dip your sponge in the vinegar and water, wipe down the walls, then rinse the walls with a sponge dipped in water. Dry the walls when you're done.

Wipe Away Dirt with a Wall Duster

Use a wall duster to remove dirt and spider webs from your walls. This will prevent a buildup of grime from making your faux finish look dingy over time.

Maintain Your Faux Finish

Your faux finish may need to be resealed on an annual or bi-annual basis. Without a fresh coat of sealer, your commercial faux finish may eventually be damaged by your regular cleaning schedule. Have the artist that painted the faux finish on your walls return on a yearly basis to reseal your finish and perform touch-ups. This way, your faux finish walls can continue to look fresh, clean and sharp for many years.

Talking About Wallpaper

Hello, my name is Patty. I would like to share information about wallpaper on this website. Although wallpaper has mostly gone out of style in recent decades, it will eventually enjoy a revival as people rediscover its beauty and functionality. Wallpaper protects the drywall from moisture while coating the room in an attractive design. The paper is fairly straightforward to install and remove, making it an easy way to update the look of the home on the fly. I will explore every facet of wallpaper on my website. Please feel free to stop by often to discuss the history and future of wallpaper.
